It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Merry Christmas from New York! I hope your Christmas preparations are going well. We are in full swing. Here are some things we are doing.
Today is wrap day. The kids are wrapping their presents for each other and for Dad. Sammy did his and enjoyed it. I will take the other 3 downstairs at different times this afternoon and let them wrap their gifts. These are small gifts that I picked out. Next year I need to work on how to get them involved in the shopping process (and using their own money) but for now this works.
Caroline was very sweet and made gifts for her brothers this year at her sewing class. She did a great job and I hope they will like their gifts!
I have for a long time wanted to do a 12 days of Christmas something for Mark. He's not one to like stuff. So when I realized that it was our 12 year anniversary this past August, I decided to send him an email every day for the 12 years of Christmas we have been married, recounting various events and activities of each Christmas. It's been really fun to do.
We decided not to do any big NYC Christmas performances this year since we went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in Orlando. Plus, Mark's parents are coming on the 27th so we will have time with them to go on various outings in the City that we love. We did go see Santa on Friday afternoon at Macy's Santaland which was great. I love my collection of Santa pictures through the years.
I am excited about something for Matthew. At Macy's, he told Santa he wanted a jet pack (this could be due to the amount of Phineas and Ferb we've been listening to in the car). A friend at a party suggested we make him one. One better, I am giving him the supplies so he can craft his own! I have a backpack which I need to cover up the NYSC logo and with a cool logo for Matthew (talking felt and glue gun here). I bought some tubing, colored electrical tape and small foil pans. I have to cut up a pool noodle. Wrap it up and it's a "Create your own jet pack" kit! So I think he will enjoy it! Maybe Grandpa can help him with it too.
I really really enjoyed making a gingerbread house with just the ladies last week. Such a fun project.
As far as music is concerned, we got a few new CDs. We always enjoy our mix from Aunt Liz. We bought the Glee CD, the above mentioned Phineas and Ferb, I got the Annie Lenox CD and Peggy sent us the Mo Tab with Natalie Cole. I taped and watched the Mo Tab performance and just loved it!! So inspiring.
I can't believe there are only 4 more little figures to put up on our advent calendar! I can't believe this is our last Christmas with a baby. Whatever your plans are, I hope they go well. And if you are traveling be safe. Merry Christmas!
