How things can just change so quickly

So, today Mark is flying to Utah for a long weekend to be with his family. His dad suffered a stroke on Monday and has been hospitalized since. He had surgery in the middle of the night last night. We are so uncertain as to what lies ahead. Mark just needs to be there right now though.

Things were just progressing well for us until Monday. We were having a quiet week and excited for Tim and Peggy's visit, they were to come to New York on Sept. 1. We had rearranged some rooms. I could feel the baby move. We celebrated Caroline's birthday. And we realized now how precious time is and how things can just change so quickly.

Here are 2 photos from the summer. Just favorite memories. Tim and Peggy and I took the kids to Alta for a little hike to see the wildflowers. The hike was wonderful, very memorable and very strenuous at the end--6 straight switchbacks. Here is Grandpa at the top! He did it.

Grandpa and Matthew had a jam session as Grandpa was practicing to perform his folk songs at the High Priest Group social. They were so cute playing their guitars together.

Tim, we wish you the best. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We wish we could all be there right now. We love you.

Home again home again

We had a great time! More on that later. And more on the falling off the covered wagon incident later.

It's been great that I haven't wanted to go anywhere since Sammy has decided to get potty trained! Only a couple of accidents. Great success. I mentioned several times during the trip that we'd be wearing big boy pants when we got home and he remembered because he's extremely motivated and really made it easy on me. Phew, check that off the list.

There was one new to me mentalist on our DVR so that was exciting.

My latest addictions: Stacy's barely naked pita chips and Word Warp iPhone app.

Daichi is here today visiting from Japan. These boys just picked up where they left off. So fun to watch them...they are all the same, just taller.

I have 5 back to school supply lists to shop for . The music teacher sent a supply list! So now I have a master list and am rummaging through the house to find any supplies we might already have. I know I have 5 dozen pencils lying around. Can't I just send those in?

Just a few of the things on my mind today....
