Post-Vacation Report

Well, we've been home for 3+ weeks. It's always hard to come back after such a fun and memorable vacation (to be posted about later) But we've had a good time and enjoyed these rather carefree weeks.

When you've been gone for a while, you come home and think: We've got to make some changes around here. So we did. We bought a new sectional for our family room and moved the blue couches downstairs. We ordered bedroom furniture for us, including a king sized bed. Our queen will go in the guest room (translate: come visit!!) We moved the baby into his own room and moved the boys into the playroom upstairs. We moved our office/computer desk into the family room downstairs. We spruced up the dining room. We made the living room better. We cleaned out Caroline's room. We reorganized our books and several closets. We've been doing a lot!

We've been working hard for gems. This is a system my sister came up with to motivate her children. It's been a beautiful thing as it's a system that works for 11 year olds to 4 year olds. Gems go in a cup for doing chores, etc. When cup is full, children get a reward. I knew we needed some kind of system and it's been a good one. I am really bad at charts. It makes me feel like the kids are doing something other than watching me clean up after them. And I'm not emptying the dishwasher all the time anymore...

We're setting up things for fall. We've gotten our supplies. Tomorrow is middle school orientation, finding classes, getting a locker, etc. Things officially start on the 7th. We're reading our books: Caroline is reading the Emily Windsnap series, I am reading the Hunger Games series, and Josh is reading some required things for sixth grade. The little guys are into super heroes, and wow did I score with some Batman shirts from old navy. They have worn them 3 days in a row!

7 Months Old

Last week Thomas turned 7 months old! He's working on his first tooth (we can see it poking through), he can sit up, he can sit in a shopping cart (awesome milestone), and he can army crawl. He's the most wonderful baby.

We moved him into his own room and he loves stretching out in his crib. So many changes for this guy! He also loves the pool, loves to be outside and tolerates solid foods.

Nine Years Old

Last week Caroline turned 9! We had a fun day celebrating her. Her big present was a new American Girl Doll. Surprise there! I took her to the City on Saturday where we picked out her doll, had her doll's ears pierced, and then had lunch. On the day of her birthday, we went to the Mall to have her ears pierced. We had a family dinner and cake and ice cream to finish out the celebration.

Happy Birthday sweet girl. I couldn't imagine a better daughter!
