A week later...much better
Okay, so things are falling back into place, where we like them. The accident is not so fresh, all the details have been taken care of, we are picking up our car tonight and I had my first chiro treatment for my airbag related injuries. My hand is healing well, just a couple more scabs (chemical burn from airbag). We are officially MOVING ON!
This is the end of the second complete week of school. Phew! We are making it. It's somewhat of a logisitical frenzy to make sure everyone is where they need to be with everything they need to bring. It's super awesome to have an independent 6th grader who leaves at 7:20. He is adjusting well to middle school. We are working on having our homework done before dinner. I just don't like it to drag on through the afternoon and evening, but maybe I am being unrealistic. He likes it a lot.
Our little fourth grader is plowing through. Last night at back to school night, her teacher reminded us what a jump it is in everything from third to fourth. I do remember Josh having a rough adjustment. so we are gentle and we try to be positive and we love times tables!
First grade is a delight! My only complaint is that he has 5 Matthew's in his class. He is having a good time.
Preschool and every day too! AAAHH! I can breathe.
Thomas is mobile, teething and cute cute cute.
Getting by...on the prayers of others
We got in a car accident on Sunday while driving home from Church. I won't say more than that about the actual incident since my brother (the insurance adjustor) advised putting no info about it on the internet. We are all ok. The closing prayer verbage we use of "bless us to travel home safely" has increased meaning.
Anyways, this is another weird "thing" in the timeline of weird things that have happened to me in the last 2 years. I was wondering where I could draw from to get the strength to get through this one. I have definitely recognized this time around the power of people praying for you...on your behalf. It makes me more conscious of praying for other people when they need it or just in general. When people have asked what they could do, I have answered pray for us. It has helped tremendously.
Next up on the blog...pics from the first day of school and such. Just wanted first to acknowledge and thank you for your prayers on our behalf.
Heart NY
Today was a perfect NY day. Beautiful blue skies. Breeze in the air. Not too warm. Kind of like the day 9 years ago when I was with my 2 year old and new baby and everything shattered with the first plane flew into the first tower.
I watched a bit of the memorial today and it was just too sad, I had to turn it off. I know 2 families in our little community who lost their dads. Very very sad.
Anyways, we took advantage of the nice weather and the days off school to go to the Bronx Zoo yesterday. Wonderful. Renewed our membership so we are looking forward to many nice days there.
And then today, I called a gal from the ward who likes museums and we went to Matisse at MoMA which was wonderful. We sat in the sculpture garden for a few minutes afterwards, right as the museum was closing. We noticed people putting white tags on trees. It's Yoko Ono's wishing tree. We each wrote a wish and tied it onto a branch. It was a nice thing to do on 9/11. The City was eerily quiet as we drove in. Drove right through Times Square with no traffic. Quiet at the museum.
My people

These are my people. I love them and miss them! This is the first of the photos I've seen from our family photo shoot in Utah this summer. The talented and lovely Camilla was very patient with our brood. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics!
