Happy Birthday Sammy!

Tomorrow you will be 4! Oh, you are such a fun boy. There are so many lovely and funny things about you, I don't even know where to start!
Since we are taking a year off of friend birthday parties (starting with yours and ending with Matthew's 7th), and since your birthday conveniently falls on a Saturday, we are looking forward to a fun filled family day with you. We took cupcakes to your school today. Grandma Baer sent us some lego brick candy and it made for very happy cupcake toppers! Tomorrow we will visit the Lego Store at the Palisades and have lunch as a family, then watch soccer-baseball-baseball and come home for lego cake and ice cream and presents. I've been looking forward to this day for a long time.
You've told me several times you would like to skip your birthday, but we can't! You have to turn 4 to turn 5! We are excited to celebrate you.
My big fat torn meniscus
So, next week is Knee Surgery Week! Who knew? The big day is Thursday (possibly Wednesday). But at least by a week from Monday I may be able to walk normally again?! We need less drama and more sleep around these parts!
Who is ready to recount with me my various ailments over the past 18 months? Who's ready for a trip down memory lane?
April 2010--Surgery to correct torn meniscus
April 2010--Knee Injury
March 2010--Power outage (that affected my MENTAL health)
January 2010--Birth of Thomas (which was actually a beautiful experience)
October 2009--PT for torn hamstring
September 2009--Antibiotics for nasty sinus infection
August 2009-ER visit for the time when I fell off the wagon at the pioneer park
April 2009--Pregnant!
February 2009--Tonsillectomy
Nov. 08-Feb. 09--4 nasty bouts of strep and tonsillitis leading up to the tonsillectomy
October 2008--Miscarriage.
That's 3 surgical proceedures in 18 months, plus countless other doctor visits.
Oh by the way, I hurt my knee going down the stairs on April 4. Heard a big pop. That's it. No great story. But the MRI showed a huge torn meniscus. So there you go.
11 weeks

Oh Thomas! You are growing too fast. Already 11 weeks old. It's not going to be pretty, the next 11 weeks (until we leave for San Diego on July 4). You will be at a lot of soccer and baseball games and practices, sewing lessons, school programs, band concerts and various other activities of your sibs who adore you by the way. Here we go!
Here we are together

Spring outfits. The first picture of the Fab 5 altogether pre-Church on Sunday.
